I was first introduced to Boags while holidaying at a house on Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia — though the brew itself is from Tasmania.
Australia is full of wankers, as you know, but that doesn’t mean I won’t at least try their beer.
Plain green glass bottle, 375ml, 5.0%ABV.
Colourful label, with a print of a painting of the Esk River, a strong arm and a tiny little horse.
Pours golden, with a nice white head, laces out to nothing, though it doesn’t lose its fizz.
It doesn’t have a strong aroma, just a hint of fruity, sweet hops.
The taste is interesting – for a lager – with a bit of a tang, and a nice fruity sweetness about it.
Over all, I’m not as impressed with the imported variety as I was with what I had in Australia, I’m not sure which it was, perhaps Strong Arm Bitter?
Anyway, this one is ok, but it’s nothing really special.
