When I saw the packet on the shelf, how could I possibly pass it by? Spaghetti flavoured noodles? What’s next? Rice flavoured rice? Ok, maybe it’s not quite so silly as that, but perhaps you can follow me some way to my point there. Yeah?
These noodles are served dryish, after the boiling water treatmeant they need draining before the three flavour sachets are added. Weirdest moment was when I opened the dried noodle sachet and out poured some macaroni elbows. What? Macaroni elbow sauce on spaghetti flavoured ramen? I beg your pardon? The packaging is all written in Korean, so I don’t know about this, but something funny seems to be going on with the macaroni elbows, I stirred in the powder base (which smelled like tomato flavoured wheat puff snacks, delicioso!), and the goopy dark red sauce, which all went on as you’d expect. But these macaroni elbows are dry. And they’re not getting boiled. I shuffled them around until they were under everything else, and still they’re crunchy. I don’t know what the solution to this problem is, I don’t see how you could add the dried vegies & macaroni before draining, as I suspect you’d lose half the vegies. So maybe it’s meant to be crunchy? I don’t think so.
Anyway, it smells good.
It looks good – the sauce is nice and dark and rich looking.
The noodles are nice and thick.
It doesn’t really taste like any spaghetti I ever had before, but what the hell? They’re pretty good. (Apart from the dry macaroni.)
Rating: Noodles 4/5, soup 3/5. Overall 7/10.
Just between you and me, I think this nutrition information is complete bullshit, there’s a small sticker on the back with a basic English translation of the contents of the packet the thing is, none of the numbers match up even remotely with the numbers I can read in the Korean panel, I also don’t believe for a second that there is no sugar or saturated fat in there.
