Nong Shim – Kimchi Ramen

Country: Korea.
Flavour: Kimchi.
Size: 120g.
From: Kim’s Korean Supermarket.
Price: $0.90.

These noodles come in a larger packet than most others weighing in at 120g, whereas of course many of the competitors are around 85g.

The packet contains a large round cake of dried noodles a kimchi soup sachet and a sachet of dried vegetables.

Preparation is simple, place noodle cake in a bowl, pour contents of both sachets over, then add around a half litre of water on top, leave for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, and you’re ready to eat.

Soup ends up a deep rich orange colour, flavour is interesting, very savoury and moreish, it also features a very nice spiciness. You end up with a lot of tasty soup once the noodles are eaten, this is tasty to guzzle, and leaves a pleasant warmth in the belly.

The noodles themselves are quite curly, and have an interesting chewiness, the toothfeel is much higher quality than most other instant noodles.

Overall, these are really good noodles, delicious in an interesting way, high quality, highly satisfying.

Rating: Noodles 3.5/5, soup 4.5/5. Overall 8/10.
