Another kimchi bowl-style noodle. This one has really thin noodles – at least, by comparison with other Nong Shim ramen. The smell is great from the moment the boiling water hits the soup base.
One thing I don’t particularly like about these styrofoam noodle bowls is that they seem to keep the noodles hot for too long. Normal bowls drain off that ‘a bit too much’ heat quite nicely. I also suspect that there’s a bit of flavouring given off by the plastic, which I don’t want to think about too much.
Once they’ve cooled a bit, these noodles are actually surprisingly tasty, they have a nice texture, and the soup is pretty good too, with a few small pieces of dried & rehydrated kimchi bobbing around in the mix.
I guess you have to like kimchi to like any of the (three, now) kimchi noodles I’ve reviewed. But, who doesn’t like kimchi? Barbarians?
